What are dropping odds and why do they matter?

When an outcome's odds fall over time, the betting market has started to see that outcome as more likely. These are called dropping odds.

Why do odds move?

Odds are not fixed. Injury and line-up news, weather, team motivation and money flowing into the market all make bookmakers update their prices. When many bookmakers move in the same direction, it reflects the market consensus rather than one bookmaker's decision.

How does harbigol measure a drop?

Every match is measured twice a day. The market probability at the first measurement is compared with the latest one. Outcomes whose probability has clearly risen – whose market price has dropped – appear in the “Dropping odds” list and on our Telegram channel. Because we use a margin-free average rather than a single bookmaker, one bookmaker's error or promotion does not distort the result.

What to keep in mind

Dropping odds do not mean an outcome is certain; they only show that market opinion has shifted. In smaller leagues fewer bookmakers price the match, so movements can be noisier. harbigol shows how many bookmakers are included in each average.
